Tip 2: BRIST Mastering the Anatomical Basics for Implant Success

By Dr. SMH Junaid, Chief Implantologist – Aina Dental Clinic , Bangalore, India

When it comes to implant placement, respect for anatomy is non-negotiable. Small mistakes here can cost big later.
Here’s the fast rulebook:

Restorative Space: Always leave at least 1 mm of room for restorative contours on each side of the implant platform. No crowding, no compromises.

•Bone Boundaries: Preserve 1–1.5 mm of healthy bone on both buccal and lingual borders. Thin walls crumble; thick walls protect.

•Vital Structures: Keep 2 mm of clearance from the mandibular canal — because nerve injuries are permanent.

•Tooth Distance: 2 mm gap between an implant and a natural tooth ensures bone and papilla stay healthy.

•Implant to Implant: 3 mm minimum between two implants — vital for bone stability and soft tissue health.

Remember: Precision isn’t optional. It’s mandatory.
