How many of us know how to repair our dear dental chair?
We work on it all the time, without it, we are just doctors who cannot help their patients!
Whenever our chair starts malfunctioning what do we do? In a dental school, change the chair and inform the attendant about the problem! In practice, call the fellow from whom you bought it! But, this doesn’t resolve everything!
You should know few simple things about your chair! Atleast things like, how to get the suction back on; and how to fix the water supply to the air rotor, three way and the correction of adjustments of head rest, back rest and position. Complicated details like the air rotors cartridge or ball bearings and major break in some part of the chair can be sent to the mechanic. But, some simple problems should be resolved on our own.
All of us have faced problems while working and we had to transfer our appointments as the chair guy or the attendant couldn’t make it on time. We ended up wasting our time as well as the patient’s.
So, Chairodontics as a part of dental school training sounds like a plan!
